The Yemeni army’s drone unit and allied fighters from Popular Committees launched two attacks on the Abha international airport south of Saudi Arabia with a number of Qassif-K2 unmanned aircraft on Thursday, al-Massirah TV reported.

Spokesman for Yemeni Armed Forces Brigadier General Yahya Saree said that Yemeni drones targeted the flight control tower and other sensitive sites inside the airport, causing a suspension of the air traffic at the Saudi airport.

He said the drone attack was a reaction to the crimes committed by the Saudi-led military coalition against the Yemeni nation.

Saree also urging the civilians and companies to evacuate areas near Saudi military airports and bases, which are “legitimate targets” for Yemeni attacks.

On August 5, the Yemeni Air Force carried out extensive operations on two Saudi Airport of Abha and King Khalid Air Base as well as Najran Airport with Qasef-2k attck drones.

The Air Force carried out 60 operations at a rate of two operations every 72 hours during the past three months, targeting enemy headquarters, bases and installations, including 16 operations at Abha airport, 14 operations on Jizan airport, 11 operations on Najran Airport and 9 operations on Khamis Mushaet Base.

The number of drone operations during the month of July reached 23, including 18 missions with Qasef-2k that specifically targeted Saudi airports and military bases.
