Iranian Duo to Participate at IJF World Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Saeid Mollaei and Mohammad Mohammadi Barimanloo will represent Iran at the International Judo Federation (IJF) World Championships.

The competition will be held from August 25 to September 1 at the Nippon Budokan, which will also host the 2020 Olympic competition.

World number one and world champion Mollaei, 27, has hit form at the right time with medals at his last three events. The Iranian hero won bronze at the Paris Grand Slam in February before capturing Grand Prix gold in Hohhot and bronze in Zagreb last month.

The owner of the red backpatch in the -81kg category is widely fancied to hold onto his title in Japan.

Barimanloo will also represent Iran in the -73kg.

The competition will bring 860 athletes from 149 registered countries together.
