Behnam Ehsanpour Wins Bronze at World Wrestling Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian freestyle wrestler Behnam Ehsanpour claimed a bronze medal at the 2019 World Wrestling Championships on Sunday.

Beka Lomtadze from Georgia defeated Russian Magomedrasul Idrisov 6-1 in the 61kg weight class final match.

Ehsanpour and Indian Rahul Aware jointly won the bronze medal.

Iran won four medals in the competition. Hassan Yazdani claimed a gold medal in the 86kg. Alireza Karimi won a silver medal at the 92kg and Younes Emami took a bronze at the 70kg.

The 2019 World Wrestling Championships were held in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan from September 14 to 22.

The tournament also served as qualification for the 2020 Summer Olympics and the top six wrestlers from each category earned their NOCs a qualification.
