Iran U-23 Football Team Loses to Indonesia


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s U-23 football team was defeated against Indonesia U-23 in a friendly match on Saturday.

Muhammad Rafli and Egy Maulana Vikri scored for the hosts at the Pakansari Stadium in Cibinong, Indonesia, and Reza Shekari was on target for Iran.

Iran had been held to a 1-1 draw by Indonesia on Wednesday at the Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium in Bali.

Iran is preparing for the AFC U-23 Championship.

Hamid Estili’s team has been drawn in Group C of the competition along with Uzbekistan, China and South Korea.

The AFC U-23 Championship will be held in Thailand from January 8 to 26 and the top three teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics men's football tournament in Japan as the AFC representatives.
