Syria Reopens Aleppo-Hasakah Highway (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Hasaka-Aleppo International Highway was reopened for traffic after the Syrian army forces fully deployed along its axes, SANA reported Wednesday.

Last Week, Syrian army troops established new posts on Hasaka-Aleppo International Highway as a part of their operation to force Turkish-backed militants away from the strategic road.

The army units began to deploy along the road from the southern side in order to secure it and protect civilians in the villages surrounding the road from Tal Tamer up to Alia silos as the first stage, then continued to deploy and reinforced its points towards the administrative borders of al-Raqqa province.

The Hasaka-Aleppo highway connects the north of the country to its west, and it runs from Al-Yarubiya town on Iraqi borders passing through the cities of Qamishli, Hasaka and the town of Tal Tamer, northwest of Hasaka to reach Ayn Issa in the countryside of Raqqa.

The M4 highway had been controlled by Turkish-backed forces since October 13, four days after the beginning of Turkey's 'Operation Peace Spring' military offensive in north-eastern Syria.
