Six Difficult Days ahead of Us: Iran Volleyball Coach Igor Kolakovic

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran volleyball coach Igor Kolakovic expects that Team Melli will have difficult days in the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) 2020 Olympic Qualification Tournament.

Iran will start the event on Tuesday at Jiangmen Sports Center Gymnasium, China from January 7 to 12, 2020 to vie for the lone ticket for the Tokyo 2020.

Kolakovic’s men are drawn in Pool A along with host China as well as Kazakhstan and Chinese Taipei, who have never made it to the Games as such.

“This is a very important tournament for Iran and we expect six difficult days in Jiangmen. All teams will do their best to win Tokyo 2020 Olympic quota place,” Kolakovic said.

“We’ve had some problems before the tournament but I think they have made us stronger for the tournament. Our aim is to win the competition and will do our best performance in China,” he added.

“Iran has no way but to win the competition,” Kolakovic concluded.

Iran will face Chinese Taipei on Tuesday and meet Kazakhstan and China on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
