TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Embassy in Oman reopened a Persian language training center in Muscat after a two-year hiatus.

In a ceremony in Muscat on Saturday, the Iranian cultural attaché office in Oman reopened the Persian language training center in a new building.

The training center had been established under an agreement between the governments of Iran and Oman, but its activities came to halt two years ago.

In comments on the sidelines of the opening ceremony, Iran’s Ambassador to Muscat Mohammad Reza Noori Shahroudi hailed the cultural commonalities between Iran and Oman, and expressed delight at the resumption of training courses at the center.

Iran’s cultural attaché Ali Mousavizadeh also took the podium to highlight the close bonds between the two nations, saying the Persian language would contribute to the expansion of cultural diplomacy and help the two nations get acquainted with each other.

Iran and Oman share age-old and close diplomatic, economic, and commercial ties.

Oman’s late monarch, Sultan Qaboos who died in January 2020, played an important role in facilitating the early stages of nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), which led to a landmark nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in July 2015.
