Profound Global Developments Followed Islamic Revolution, Says Iran Nuclear Chief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi highlighted the importance of the 1979 Islamic Regulation and said it was followed by “profound” global developments.

Salehi visited the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, south of Tehran, on Sunday to pay tribute to the late founder of the Islamic Republic on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the visit, he said, “…Since the religion (Islam) is founded on human nature, all people were attracted to the movement initiated by the great Imam (Khomeini), and this revolution began and the Islamic Republic was established.”

“The (establishment of the) Islamic Republic is a turning point in the human history, and the passage of time will show that since the Islamic Revolution took place, subsequent developments in the world have been profound, inclusive and fast,” he added.

“Nihilism used to prevail in the West but today after the Islamic Revolution, the tendency towards religion, theism and religiosity is increasing among the youth day by day,” the official added.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 41 years ago, on February 11, 1979, ending 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The Islamic Revolution, led by Imam Khomeini, established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.

Every year, Iranians mark the anniversary of their Islamic Revolution from February 1 to 11, known as the Ten-Day Fajr (Dawn) ceremonies.

February 1, 1979, was the date when Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini returned from exile in Paris to Tehran.
