Denmark’s Biggest Pharmaceutical Company to Begin Production in Iran: Envoy

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The largest pharmaceutical company of Denmark is going to start production at a factory in Iran within the next few weeks, the Danish ambassador to Tehran said.

Although the foreign sanctions have partly damaged the trade ties between Denmark and Iran, such circumstances would by no means bring the bilateral trade to a halt, Danny Annan said in a meeting with the governor of the southern Iranian province of Fars, held in Shiraz.

Annan said a number of Danish companies have been forced to leave Iran after the intensification of sanctions, but a number of others, like Denmark’s biggest pharmaceutical company, have decided to remain in the country.

The ambassador added that the large Danish company is going to start pharmaceutical production at a factory in Iran’s northern city of Karaj within the next two months.

The envoy noted that the major Danish enterprise is also working in cooperation with the pharmaceutical companies of Fars Province.

Under a joint program, the Danish companies and the Shiraz University of Medical Sciences will soon unveil a “diabetes bus” in Shiraz, the ambassador said, referring to a bus providing service for diabetes patients and checking the blood glucose of people.
