The competition was originally scheduled to be held from February 26 to March 8 but it was postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak following consultation with all relevant stakeholders.
Like previous editions held in the same year as the FIFA Futsal World Cup, the tournament acts as the AFC qualifiers for the World Cup. The top five teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2020 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Lithuania as the AFC representatives.
Iran is the defending champion.
