The competition was originally scheduled to take place in Olbia, Italy but new dates for the event are October 15-25, 2020, with the Local organizing Committee (LOC) and location remaining unchanged.

Iran was preparing for the competition as the Asia-Oceania member.

The virus, known as COVID-19, originated in Wuhan, China, late last year and quickly spread across the globe.
