Over 5,700 COVID-19 Patients Recover in Iran: Deputy Health Minister


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Deputy Health Minister Alireza Raeisi said since the outbreak of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country, 5,710 patients have completely recovered from the infectious disease.

Raeisi said Wednesday that over the past 24 hours, the total number of coronavirus cases in the country has increased by 1,192, reaching 17,361, and, unfortunately, 147 patients have lost their lives, bringing the death toll from the epidemic in the country to 1,135.

However, the deputy minister noted, 5,710 patients infected with COVID-19 have recovered and have been discharged from the hospital so far.

Medical staffs in all 31 provinces of Iran have been working tirelessly over the past weeks to contain the novel coronavirus.

First detected in Wuhan city in central China in December, the coronavirus has spread to more than 140 countries.

More than 200,000 have been infected globally, according to the WHO. Of those, about 80,000 have recovered.
