Coronavirus Updates in Iran: Recovered Patients Exceed 6,700


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – At least 6,745 coronavirus patients have recovered from the disease in Iran as of Friday, the Health Ministry announced, saying the total number of COVID-19 cases has exceeded 19,600.

Health Ministry Spokesman Kianoosh Jahanpoor announced at a daily press conference on March 20 that 149 people have died of COVID-19 in the country over the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 1,433.

The number of people tested positive for the coronavirus in Iran has also hit 19,644 after detection of 1,237 new cases over the past 24 hours, he added.

Jahanpoor said a total of 6,745 patients have been discharged from the hospital after recovering from the disease.

The novel coronavirus has infected more than 244,500 people and killed over 10,000 worldwide.

The death toll from the outbreak of coronavirus in Italy rose in the last 24 hours to more than 3,400, overtaking the total number of deaths so far registered in China.
