An estimated 235,000 people have been infected by the coronavirus globally and close to 10,000 have been confirmed dead, according to the World Health Organization.

Queiroz also congratulated Iranian people on the occasion of the Persian New Year, Nowruz, in a message.

The Portuguese coach’s highlights during his time with Iran include two trips to the FIFA World Cup, becoming the first coach of the Iranian national team to lead the nation to consecutive world finals.

On both occasions, Team Melli failed to progress past the group stage.
