KSA, USA Both Accustomed to Imposing Medical Sanctions: Iranian Adviser

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An adviser to Iran’s parliament speaker lambasted the Saudi and American officials for proceeding with the common policy of sanctions and wars against other nations, even amid the coronavirus pandemic.

In a post on his Twitter account on Wednesday, senior adviser to the Iranian parliament speaker for international affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian lashed out at the Saudi and US regimes for imposing medical sanctions on Yemen and Iran.

“Under COVID19 pandemic, the world must force Saudi Arabia to stop aggression and immediate lifting of humanitarian blockade in Yemen,” he said.

“Ongoing medical sanctions as well as war and bloodshed are the common features of KSA and USA,” Amir Abdollahian added.

“Iran supports the entire Yemeni nation,” he stated.

On Tuesday, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on the sixth anniversary of the Saudi-led military onslaught against Yemen, saying the cruel and inhumane sanctions and the crimes committed against Yemen have made the catastrophic conditions of Yemeni people known as the worst human tragedy of the century in the world.

It also reiterated the call for an immediate ceasefire in Yemen, acceleration of delivering humanitarian assistance, lifting the cruel blockade, and the launch of talks among all Yemeni groups.

The UN says over 24 million Yemenis are in dire need of humanitarian aid, including 10 million suffering from extreme levels of hunger.
