Iran’s Exports to Kuwait May Resume Next Week: Envoy
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s ambassador to Kuwait said the Islamic Republic will likely resume exporting goods to Kuwait as of next week after a hiatus caused by the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
In an interview with IRNA, Mohammad Irani said Tehran has assured the Kuwaiti officials that all shipments for export to Kuwait will meet the health standards.
He said the Iranian commodities and foodstuff make up a large portion of the Kuwaiti market, adding, “We have given the Kuwaitis an assurance that the Iranian merchants and producers will observe the health standards.”
The Kuwaiti officials have agreed to resume importing goods from Iran, the ambassador noted, saying the processes are going on suitably and the trade exchanges will probably restart next week.
The envoy also stated that according to Kuwaiti health authorities, none of the Iranian nationals in the Arab country have contracted the coronavirus.
The fact that not a single case of COVID-19 has been reported among some 40,000 Iranians residing in Kuwait is a positive point and indicates that Iranians have fully complied with the health protocols, Irani concluded.
In March, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait Sheikh Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah expressed solidarity with the Iranian government and nation in the battle with the coronavirus epidemic, and unveiled plans for a donation of $10 million to Iran for the fight against COVID-19.
