Iran Records Lowest Daily COVID-19 Deaths in over 2 Months

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran has recorded its lowest daily death toll from the novel coronavirus in more than two months, the Health Ministry spokesman announced Monday.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Kianoosh Jahanpoor said COVID-19 has taken the lives of only 45 patients during the past 24 hours, the lowest number of daily fatalities since March 9.

The total death toll from the infectious disease in Iran has reached 6,685, he added.

The spokesman also noted that the number of people tested positive for the coronavirus across Iran has risen to 109,286 following the detection of 1,683 new cases since Sunday noon.

At least 87,422 positive cases in the country have fully recovered from the coronavirus and have been discharged from the hospital, Jahanpoor added.

Among the cases undergoing treatment in the hospital at present, 2,703 patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, he noted.

The spokesperson added that more than 601,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

More than 4,181,000 people have been infected with COVID-19 globally, and the death toll has exceeded 283,000.
