Iran Welcomes Deal between Afghan Leaders

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry hailed an agreement between Afghan leaders and expressed readiness to help boost negotiations between the Afghan parties over political issues.

In a statement on Sunday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Abbas Mousavi said Tehran is ready to assist Kabul in the process of intra-Afghan political talks and continued alliance of Afghan groups, including the Taliban.

Mousavi also welcomed and expressed satisfaction over the signing of an agreement between President Ashraf Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah, the head of Afghanistan's National Reconciliation High Council.

Iranian officials have repeatedly called for a political and peaceful settlement of the disputes in Afghanistan in a process involving all Afghan groups.
