Iran Reports Zero Coronavirus Deaths in 10 Provinces

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – There was not a single death from the novel coronavirus in 10 provinces of Iran over the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry’s spokesperson said on Wednesday.

Speaking at a daily press conference, Kianoosh Jahanpoor said zero deaths have been reported in 10 provinces during the past 24 hours, while 8 other provinces have reported only one death from coronavirus infection each.

He also put the total death toll from the coronavirus in Iran at 7,183, saying the disease has taken the lives of 64 patients over the past 24 hours.

The spokesman noted that at least 98,808 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far and have been discharged from hospitals across the country.

The number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has risen to 126,949 following the detection of 2,346 new cases since Tuesday noon, the spokesman added.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers for COVID-19, 2,673 patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Jahanpoor noted.

He went on to say that more than 731,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 5 million and the death toll is above 325,000.
