Iranian Speaker Highlights Role of Muslim Parliaments in Meeting Challenges
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani congratulated his Muslim counterparts on the religious festival of Eid al-Fitr, pointing to the prominent role that the parliaments of Islamic countries play in tackling various challenges, including the coronavirus outbreak.
In separate congratulatory messages to his Muslims counterparts on Saturday, Larijani said the parliaments of Islamic countries have played an influential role in dealing with the challenges that the Muslim world is currently facing, including the coronavirus crisis.
“In the current circumstances, Islamic countries are faced with a difficult and special test, which would be the basis for strengthening the great Islamic Ummah and rapport and cooperation in it,” he said.
The outgoing Iranian Parliament speaker also expressed hope that the Islamic teachings and mutual trust and rapport among Muslims would help the Islamic civilization thrive and express the true image of Islam that is based upon peace, affection, friendship and cooperation.
Eid al-Fitr, also called Feast of Breaking the Fast, is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims around the world at the end of Ramadan.
Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, marks the most special of all occasions.
On the day of Eid al-Fitr, Muslims attend prayers in congregation, listen to sermons and give Zakat al-Fitr or donations to the poor.
