TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The cooperation between Iran and Russia contributes to stability and security in the region, a senior adviser to the Iranian Parliament speaker said.
In a meeting with the Russian ambassador in Tehran, Iranian Parliament speaker’s adviser for international affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said, “The multilateral, regional and international cooperation between Iran and Russia contributes to the promotion of stability and security in the region.”
He also hailed the successful parliamentary cooperation between Tehran and Moscow, saying the two sides have played a positive role in regional issues, particularly in the fight against terrorism.
For his part, Russia’s Ambassador Levan Jagarian said one of the strategic objectives of Moscow is to strengthen and boost close ties with Iran in various fields.
The two officials also discussed the latest regional and international developments, including the situation in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Afghanistan.
Iran and Russia have formed a strong alliance in recent years, with both supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s legitimate government against foreign-backed militancy.
