Coronavirus Updates in Iran: Number of Recoveries Exceeds 127,000


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 127,000 coronavirus positive cases have recovered from the infectious disease in Iran, the Health Ministry’s spokesman said Thursday.

COVID-19 has taken the lives of 59 patients in Iran during the past 24 hours, Kianoosh Jahanpoor said at a daily press conference.

The coronavirus death toll in Iran now stands at 8,071, he added.

The spokesman said the number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in the country has risen to 164,270 following the detection of 3,574 new cases since Wednesday noon.

He said at least 127,485 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far and have been discharged from hospitals across the country.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers, 2,569 patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Jahanpoor noted.

He went on to say that more than 1 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.
