Iran Coronavirus Cases Close to 185,000


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Health Ministry spokeswoman said the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country is about to hit 185,000.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Sima Sadat Lari said the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in Iran has risen to 184,955 following the detection of 2,410 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected over the past 24 hours, 714 patients have been admitted to the hospital, she added.

At least 146,748 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far and have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman said.

She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 8,730, saying the disease has taken the lives of 71 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 2,755 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Sadat Lari noted.

The spokeswoman also said more than 1,219,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has exceeded 7,760,000, and the death toll has surpassed 428,000.
