Speaking at a meeting of the Coronavirus Battle National Headquarters in Tehran on Sunday, joined by provincial governors via video links, Rouhani hailed the Iranian people’s cooperation in the fight against the outbreak and the relentless efforts made by the country’s officials in the past months.

“Efforts (so far) made by Health Ministry, our industry section, and the Central Bank of Iran (to contain the virus and its consequences) are rare in its kind,” Rouhani said.

He added, “Great work has been going on but this does not mean that all problems are over”.

The president further called for unity among the country’s three branches of power to tackle people’s problems amid the pandemic.

The total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 across the country stands at 220,180 as of June 28.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has exceeded 10 million, and the death toll has surpassed 501,480.
