UN Envoy Prolonging Saudi Aggression against Yemen: Ansarullah

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesman for Yemen’s Houthi Ansarullah movement, Mohammad Abdul-Salam, blamed United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths for prolonging the Saudi-led war against the impoverished Arab country.

“From his recent speech, it has become clear that the UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths has broken away from neutrality and fairness that his mission requires. Griffiths became involved with the forces of aggression against Yemen, adopting their position completely,” Abdul-Salam said in a recent tweet, according to Anadolu Agency.

Previously, Griffiths said that he and his office were working “diligently” and “impartially” in order to reach a peaceful political solution to end the crisis in Yemen.

In December, representatives of the ex-government and Houthi leaders held a round of UN-brokered talks in Stockholm which yielded a ceasefire agreement in the Red Sea port city of Hudaydah.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and its allies, including the UAE, have been conducting a bloody military aggression in Yemen, using arms supplied by their Western backers. The aim of the war has been to bring Yemen's former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi back to power and defeat the Houthi Ansarullah movement.
