Zarif Urges Boost to Iran-Croatia Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif congratulated his Croatian counterpart on re-appointment for a new term, hoping for the promotion of relations between Tehran and Zagreb in various fields.

In a message on Sunday, Zarif hailed the recent successful parliamentary election in Croatia and congratulated Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlic Radman on his re-appointment.

“Considering the very good ties between the two countries and the diverse capacities available, I hope we would witness further promotion and dynamism of the bilateral relations in all political, economic and cultural fields,” the top Iranian diplomat said.

The 2020 Croatian parliamentary election took place on July 5. The conservative Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party consolidated its power after winning 66 seats in the European country's 151-seat parliament.

Back in May, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani sent a congratulatory message for his Croatian counterpart Zoran Milanovic on the Statehood Day of Croatia, calling for the expansion of cooperation with the European nation in various fields.
