Senior Lebanese Official’s Trip to Iran on Agenda: Spokesman

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Abbas Mousavi said a high-ranking Lebanese official is likely to visit Tehran in the near future.

“A visit by one of Lebanon’s high-ranking officials is on the agenda,” Mousavi told reporters on Monday during his weekly press briefing.

You will be notified on the details of the trip whenever it is finalized, he added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he referred to last week’s deadly blast in Beirut and said the Islamic Republic will increase its humanitarian aid to the Arab country.

The huge blast on Tuesday left at least 158 people dead and thousands of others wounded and in need of medical assistance.

Some 300,000 people were also displaced as residential buildings were fully or partially damaged.

Officials linked the blast to hundreds of tons of confiscated ammonium nitrate that were being stored in a warehouse at the port for six years.
