Namjoo Motlagh, an ex-midfielder of Esteghlal, was Farhad Majidi’s assistant coach in the last season.
He was named as Esteghlal interim coach after Majidi parted company with the team after the Hazfi Cup final.
Namjoo Motlagh will lead Esteghlal in the 2020 AFC Champions League group stage, where the Blues will meet Al-Wahda of the UAE, Iraqi Al-Shorta and Saudi Arabian team Al-Ahli.
