Syrians Condemn US Military Presence in Hasakah (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Residents of villages in Al-Hasakah countryside staged a protest gathering in the city of Al-Shaddadi, denouncing crimes by the US-backed Kurdish SDF forces and condemning the military presence of US forces.

SANA reported that citizens of Kashkash, Jabor Villages ,Jelal sharki and residential populations around them gathered in the main street of the city of Al-Shadadi in the south countryside of Hasaka to condemn and protest the crimes of the Kurdish SDF forces after demolishing their homes and sabotaging their agricultural lands with the support of the US occupation forces.

Protesters also burned tires and cut off a number of main streets in the city and shouted slogans against the SDF militia and US forces, demanding compensation for the damages they have inflicted on the residents.

Last week, residents of Tal Sateh village in the countryside of Qamishli gathered to demand the expulsion of the US and Turkish forces from the Syrian lands. The protesters also gathered to denounce the so-called Caesar Act.

In June, the US enforced new sanctions on Syria under the Caesar Act, which is said to aim at increasing the pressure on the Syrian government to halt alleged attacks on civilians.

The act is set to punish anyone who provides support to, or deals with, the Syrian government or any of the entities it owns or controls.

The measures focus on three major sectors: the military, oil and gas, as well as reconstruction in the Syrian government-controlled areas. It also opens the door to sanctions on the Central Bank of Syria.
