Iran, Russia Discuss Nagorno-Karabakh Dispute
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Senior diplomats from Iran and Russia discussed recent developments in Nagorno-Karabakh amid a flare-up of fighting between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan over the disputed region.
In a telephone conversation on Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov discussed the latest developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
The military forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan have started a new round of clashes over the disputed region, marking the heaviest fighting between the two neighbors in years.
Iran has repeatedly asked the two neighbors to cease hostilities and hold negotiations to resolve the dispute peacefully.
