Yemeni PM Lauds Iran’s Policies

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Prime Minister of Yemen Abdel-Aziz bin Habtour praised Iran’s honorable stances on his country in a meeting with the new Iranian envoy in Sana’a.

In the Monday meeting with Iranian Ambassador Hassan Irloo, the prime minister of Yemen’s National Salvation Government admired Iran for adopting “honorable” stances on the Arab country.

Bin Habtour also hailed Tehran’s stances on the Islamic and Arab community’s key issue, namely Palestine.

The Yemeni prime minister and the Iranian envoy also weighed plans to promote cooperation between the two countries and expand the political, economic and cultural relations, according to Yemen's Arabic-language al-Masirah network.

Iran has spared no effort to support the Yemeni people since the outbreak of a Saudi-led war.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

The war has killed tens of thousands of people, mostly civilians, and resulted in what the UN has described as the world's worst humanitarian crisis.

Some 3.3 million people have been displaced from their homes and 24 million, or more than 80 percent of the population, are in need of aid, according to the UN.
