Iran Loses to Syria at FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran national basketball team was defeated against Syria 77-70 at the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 qualifiers on Monday.

Syria’s George Earl Kell III showed a brilliant performance with a game-high 34 points to go with 8 rebounds, four assists and 2 blocks.

Mohammad Jamshidi was Iran’s topscorer with 13 points.

Iran still remains the top team in Group E with seven points.

Team Melli is scheduled to play Qatar and Saudi Arabia on February 18 and 21, respectively in the third window.

There are 24 teams competing in the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers and top two teams in each group will qualify directly to Asia Cup 2021.
