Iran's Coronavirus Death Toll Declining Gradually


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The trajectory of the coronavirus death toll in Iran has shown a gradual downward trend with the country’s Health Ministry reporting 284 new deaths in 24 hours.

The COVID-19 outbreak claimed 284 deaths in the past 24 hours, the lowest number in more than two weeks, bringing Iran's overall death toll to 51,496, Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said on Thursday.

The country registered 10,403 new cases of infection over the same period, she said, putting the total number at 1,083,23 across the country.

The spokeswoman also noted that at least 778,160 patients have recovered from the viral disease so far or have been discharged from hospitals across the country.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 69.3 million and the death toll has exceeded 1.57 million.
