Coronavirus in Iran: Over 1,400 New Cases Admitted to Hospital

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus patients who have been admitted to the hospital across Iran over the past 24 hours has dropped to 1,408, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said.

Sima Sadat Lari announced at a press conference on Friday that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 1,092,000 following the detection of 9,594 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, 1,408 patients have been admitted to the hospital, she added.

At least 787,853 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman added.

She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 51,728, saying the disease has taken the lives of 232 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 5,760 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.

The spokeswoman also said more than 6,611,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 69.7 million and the death toll has exceeded 1,580,000.
