Coronavirus in Iran: Hospital Admissions, Death Toll Falling

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus patients admitted to the hospital in Iran and the daily deaths from the pandemic decreased again on Saturday, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said.

Sima Sadat Lari said at a press conference on Saturday that 822 of the new coronavirus cases detected in the past 24 hours have been admitted to the hospital.

Sima Sadat Lari said the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 1,152,000 following the detection of 6,421 new cases since yesterday.

At least 875,943 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman added.

She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 53,448, saying the disease has taken the lives of 175 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 5,591 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.

The spokeswoman also said nearly 7 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 76 million and the death toll has exceeded 1.68 million.
