Iran Won’t Rest Until Revenge Taken for Gen. Soleimani’s Blood: President

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the Islamic Republic will not rest until it takes revenge for the US assassination of Lt. General Qassem Soleimani.

Speaking at a cabinet session on Wednesday, Rouhani paid tribute to General Soleimani as a national hero and a brave commander.

The US president and secretary of state are the main culprits behind the barbaric crime of assassination of the top Iranian commander, he said.

The Iranian nation will not rest until it takes revenge for the blood of the revered commander as a right, he added.

The first slap that the White House criminals received in the face was the massive and historic funeral of General Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Mohandas in various cities, Rouhani said.

He also noted that the hostile plots to defeat the resistance in the region by the assassination of General Soleimani backfired, as it boosted the morale of resistance and made the Iraqi parliament pass a bill on the expulsion of American forces from the Arab country.

One of the results of the stupid and rude decision by the US president to assassinate General Soleimani was that “Trumpism ended”, Rouhani said, adding that regional and international stability will improve in the post-Trump era.

On January 3, a US drone strike near Baghdad International Airport assassinated General Soleimani, former commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps. The attack — that also killed Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) anti-terror group, along with several others— came while General Soleimani was on an official visit to the Iraqi capital.
