In comments at the opening of a construction project in Tehran on Saturday morning, Jahangiri said the Iranian nation is repeating the benefit of its patience and fortitude under the US pressures.
“The Americans launched an economic war against us in the true sense of the word,” he noted, saying the outgoing US president made every attempt with the Israeli and Saudi support to prevent Iran’s progress, but failed to do so.
The failure of the policy of maximum pressure on Iran would force the next US administration to shift its policies, the vice president stressed, adding that Iran’s revenues in the coming months will increase as the pressures will ease off.
Jahangiri also said the US president was dishonored after the scandal of fatal riots at the US Congress on Wednesday.
In a televised speech on Friday, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei pointed to the violent rampage at the US Capitol, saying, “In the year 1388 (2009), the US wished to create instability in Iran, and now this has happened to themselves this year, in 1399 (2020). In that year, they wished to do in Iran what has happened in Washington – in particular, the events taking place the day before yesterday. Certain individuals poured into the US Congress, and as a result, they had to evacuate the members of Congress through secret passageways.”
