US Blacklisting of Ansarullah Illegitimate: Iran’s Yemen Envoy

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The US administration’s plan to designate Yemen’s Ansarullah movement as a “terrorist organization” lacks legitimacy, Iran’s ambassador to Sana’a said.

In a post on his Twitter account, Hassan Irloo denounced as illegitimate the US move to blacklist Ansarullah.

The ambassador said Washington’s new move reveals that the aggression against Yemen is an American and Zionist war.

The US blacklisting follows a series of victories for Ansarullah and the successive defeats of the Saudi-led coalition, he added.

The Iranian envoy also slammed the terrorist designation of Ansarullah as a move for complementing aggression and blockade on people of Yemen and complicating the course of UN-mediated peace negotiations.

US State Secretary Mike Pompeo announced on January 10 that the State Department will notify Congress of his intent to designate Ansarullah as a “Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO)”.
