Iraq Held by UAE in Friendly
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iraq was held to a goalless draw against the UAE in an international friendly at the Zabeel Stadium ahead of the resumption of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023.
Iraq head coach Srecko Katanec, who tested several new players, will be hoping to have a better result when his side take on Kuwait in another friendly on January 27.
Iraq is currently top of Group C of the Asian Qualifiers with 11 points from five matches, a group that consists of rivals Iran, Bahrain, Hong Kong, and Cambodia.
Katanec’s team is scheduled to take on Hong Kong in the Asian Qualifiers on March 30 while the UAE plays Malaysia on March 25 before facing Indonesia five days later.
