Iran’s Taremi Chosen as AFC International Player of Week
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian forward Mehdi Taremi was chosen as the AFC International Player of the Week by the fans’ vote.
He has been a regular fixture in the AFC poll in the final months of 2020 and was chosen as the Player of the Week, courtesy of his eye-catching performance in the Portugal league.
A league brace against Famalicão was impressive in itself, but he followed up by providing the 88th-minute assist which kept FC Porto in the Portuguese Cup, then scoring the fourth and final goal himself in extra-time.
He won the poll with 80 percent of votes.
Taremi defeated his countrymen Saman Ghoddos (Brentford), Ali Gholizadeh (Charleroi) and Shahriar Moghanlou (Santa Clara) in the poll.
