Iran, Pakistan Hold Online Trade Talks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Officials from Iran and Pakistan held a webinar on trade cooperation between the two neighbors.

The first round of online trade talks between Iran and Pakistan was attended by top diplomats, commercial experts, chambers of commerce officials and representatives of various companies.

In comments at the webinar, Iranian Ambassador to Islamabad Mohammad Ali Hosseini highlighted the rapid growth of knowledge-based economy in Iran.

He also noted that Iran and Pakistan are trying to increase the annual bilateral trade to $5 billion, saying the Iranian diplomatic missions in Pakistan are ready to help the business sectors achieve that goal, IRNA reported.

A number of other speakers in the webinar also expressed their views about plans for closer economic relations between the two states, including Pakistani Ambassador to Tehran Rahim Hayat Qureshi, President of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry Nasir Hayat Mago, and Iran’s Consul General in Karachi Ahmad Mohammadi.
