Coronavirus in Iran: 660 New Cases Hospitalized

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Less than 10 percent of more than 6,800 coronavirus cases detected in Iran over the past 24 hours have been admitted to the hospital, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said.

Speaking at a daily press conference on Tuesday, Sima Sadat Lari said the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has surpassed 1,431,400 after the detection of 6,820 new cases since Monday noon.

Of the new cases detected since yesterday, 660 patients have been admitted to the hospital, she added.

At least 1,223,197 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman said.

She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 58,110, saying the disease has taken the lives of 72 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,865 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.

The spokeswoman also said more than 9,394,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 104 million and the death toll has exceeded 2.25 million.
