Iran’s Top Judge, Iraqi PM Discuss Regional Security

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Judiciary Chief Seyed Ebrahim Raeisi and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi talked about a range of issues at a meeting in Baghdad, from relations between the two neighbors to plans for regional stability.

In a Tuesday meeting in Baghdad, the visiting Iranian Judiciary chief and the Iraqi premier discussed the bilateral relations, the ways to promote cooperation between Iran and Iraq in the judicial and legal fields, and a number of other regional issues.

The prime minister of Iraq stressed in the meeting that Baghdad and Tehran need to work with each other to enhance security and stability of the region within the framework of their common interests.

Kadhimi also pointed to the historical, geographical, religious and cultural ties between the two neighbors, highlighted their common strategic interests, and praised the distinguished relationship between the two nations.

For his part, the Iranian Judiciary chief conveyed greetings from Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei to the people and government of Iraq, and wished the Arab country success in its efforts to tackle corruption, strengthen national sovereignty, and fight against terrorism.

The Iranian top judge has traveled to Baghdad at the invitation of his Iraqi counterpart for talks on judicial cooperation.
