Iran to Participate at FIBA U-19 World Cup
TEHTAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s basketball team was awarded a berth to participate at the 2021 FIBA U-19 World Cup in Latvia.
In a decision made by FIBA and announced by its Secretary General Andreas Zagklis, the Iranian youth team who was not supposed to take part at the competition, was awarded a place in the event.
The U-21 basketball team was deprived from the Asian U-18 leg qualification as the event was canceled due to the spread of COVID-19 and the decision resulted in ranking application.
But after withdrawal of Japan from the competition, Iran replaced the team in the tournament.
The 2021 FIBA U-19 World Cup will be held in Riga and Daugavpils, Latvia from July 3 to 11.
