Over 8,100 New Cases of Coronavirus Registered in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – More than 8,120 new cases of COVID-19 infection were detected in Iran over the past 24 hours, with 815 of them needing hospitalization, the Health Ministry said Saturday.

The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has claimed the lives of 85 more Iranians since Friday noon, taking the total number of deaths to 62,308, according to Sima Sadat Lari, the spokeswoman for the Health Ministry.

She said the new cases brought the country's total infected individuals to 1,846,923, of whom 1,585,114 have recovered or been discharged from hospitals.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,921 patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.

She went on to say that nearly 12,550,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have so far been carried out across the country.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 126.8 million and the death toll has exceeded 2.78 million.
