Iranian, Azeri Foreign Ministers Confer on Caspian Cooperation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Senior diplomats from Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan discussed cooperation between the two neighbors in the Caspian Sea.

In a meeting on the sidelines of an annual ministerial meeting of the Heart of Asia-Istanbul initiative in the capital of Tajikistan, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Azeri counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov talked about a range of issues, including mutual cooperation in the Caspian Sea.

The two foreign ministers also discussed the latest developments in the Caucasus region and other issues of mutual interest in the political and economic fields.

Zarif and Bayramov are in Dushanbe for the 9th annual ministerial meeting of the Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process.

The Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process is a regional initiative developed by Afghanistan and Turkey, which was launched in November 2011 in Istanbul.

The process aims to promote regional security, economic and political cooperation centered on Afghanistan through dialogue and confidence building measures.
