Bahrain Loses to Jordan in Friendly

TEHRAN (Tasnim)– Bahrain national football team was defeated against Jordan 2-1 in a friendly match Tuesday night.

The match was part of both teams' preparations for the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023, with the second round set to conclude in June.

Jordan scored in the 31st minute when Ihsan Haddad's cross was headed home by Baha' Faisal.

Vital Borkelmans’ side doubled its lead seven minutes into the second half after another assist from Haddad, who sent in a cross which was finished by Yazan Al Naimat past Bahrain goalkeeper Sayed Shubbar Alawi.

Bahrain pulled a goal back in the 76th minute when Mohamed Marhoon was fouled by Yazan Abu Arab inside the area, with Mohamed Al Rumaihi scoring from the resulting penalty past goalkeeper Ahmed Abdel Sattar.

Both teams will now turn their attention to the Asian Qualifiers, with Jordan ranked third in Group B on 10, while Bahrain is second in Group C on nine points. Iraq sits first and Iran is third in the group.
