Coronavirus Death Toll in Iran Exceeds 65,000

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s death toll from the coronavirus surpassed 65,000 as the number of new infected cases and hospital admissions continue to rise, the Health Ministry said Tuesday

Providing the latest statistics on the coronavirus infection, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said on April 13 that the pandemic has claimed 291 lives over the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll in Iran to 65,055.

The total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in the country has surpassed 2,118,200 after the detection of 24,760 new cases since yesterday, Sima Sadat Lari added.

More than 1,729,200 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, she noted.

Among those undergoing treatment at present, 4,481 are being kept in the Intensive Care Units of medical centers because of critical health conditions, Lari said.

The spokeswoman also noted that more than 13.86 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 137 million and the death toll has exceeded 2.96 million.
