Coronavirus in Iran: Over 3,300 New Cases Hospitalized


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The number of coronavirus patients who have been admitted to the hospital across Iran over the past 24 hours surpassed 3,300, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said.

Sima Sadat Lari announced at a press conference on Tuesday that the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran has exceeded 2,438,000 following the detection of 20,963 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, 3,386 patients have been admitted to the hospital, she added.

At least 1,907,000 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman added.

She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 70,532, saying the disease has taken the lives of 462 patients over the past 24 hours.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 5,287 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.

She also said more that more than 15.43 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far and 705,147 people have received the first dose of coronavirus vaccine.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 148 million and the death toll has exceeded 3.13 million.
