Iran Pursuing Case of Swiss Embassy Staffer’s Death: Spokesman

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh gave an assurance that Iran is pursuing the case of death of a Swiss diplomat who fell from a high rise in northern Tehran.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Khatibzadeh expressed his sympathy for the death of the Swiss diplomat in Tehran, saying the Foreign Ministry is in contact with the legal organizations, including the Police and the Judiciary, to pursue the case.

He also noted that the Foreign Ministry has been in contact with the Swiss Embassy in Tehran and is waiting for results of investigations into the incident.

The body of the deceased has been taken to the coroner's office and will be released to the Swiss Embassy after investigations, the spokesman noted.

Khatibzadeh emphasized that the Foreign Ministry of Iran complies with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and will take whatever measure necessary in this case, from coordination to cooperation with Switzerland.

The Swiss woman, in her 50s, fell from the upper floors of a 20-story building in which she lived in northern Tehran. A worker discovered her missing on Tuesday morning and called authorities.
